CROATIA HOLIDAY/ VACATION
Without a doubt the best time to visit Croatia for a sailing holiday is from May to October. The weather is sunny and very pleasant however mid season is July and August. Mid season in summer can get really hot so to avoid the extreme heat of summer maybe July and August should be avoided. The afternoons can get extra hot so keep a hat and your suntan lotion at hand. After October quite a few of the hotels and tourist attractions start closing and the locals plan their vacations for this time of year, so be sure to plan your holiday well in advance to assure you have everything in place before you leave for your holiday in Croatia. The summer season is hot and dry and their rainy season is in winter. Summer temperatures on the coast are roughly around mid to high ( 20c ) – ( 80F ).
SAILING HOLIDAY / VACATION CROATIA
The best time for sailing in Croatia is from April to July and again from September and October, so make your booking now while you still have time to plan that amazing holiday. For your convenience there are around 50 marinas on the Croatia coastline with great facilities including toilets, showers and restaurants and most have boat repair shops. Croatia has well over 16000 berths available but be aware, it is a good idea to book one well before you need it as in summer things can get very busy and the berths can fill quickly. However, if you like to moor away from the marinas there are plenty of inlets and secluded bays that will assure you a peaceful place to relax after a good days sailing.

The maestral is a on shore wind which gives pleasant sailing along the Istrian coast. It gathers force as it sweeps down to Dalmatia. The burin is a north, northeast wind that is strongest before dawn and soon dies down. Watch out for the nevera, a strong summer westerly wind that brings bad weather. It whips up the sea very suddenly, usually accompanied by thunder and then quickly dies down. It is most common in the Northern Adriatic.
